The tomb turned out to be a prototype for later burials in the Valley of the Kings: a plastered corridor led straight into the burial chamber. Although the complex suffered heavy damage in ancient times due to severe Nile floods that filled the underground passages with mud, the surviving artifacts and architecture provide invaluable insights into New Kingdom burial rituals.
